SPORT RULES    
Softball
Recreation Softball is co-ed and requires at least 3 player over 40 years old and 3 women.  Complete Rules.
 
Basketball
Basketball is 3 on 3 and requires one female player on the court at all times. Complete Rules.
 
Tennis
Various games are played for both singles and doubles.  Complete Rules.
 
Flag Football
Teams consist of 7 players with at least 2 players at least 40 years old on the field at all times.
 
Soccer

 

Ping Pong
Format is a round robin per Village until 2 players remain from each Village.  The final 8 players then play a round robin with points awarded for the best finish in each village.  Games are played to 11 points. Complete Rules.
 
Texas Hold'em
Each Village plays until 2 player remain from each village.  The final 8 players then receive the same amount of chips and play until there is winner.  Blinds are increased periodically and there is no limit on bets.  Points are awarded for the best finish in each village.  Complete Rules
 
Relay Race
Each team consists of 4 runners.  Each runner completes one lap around the Celebration Lake downtown and a baton is passed to the next runner.  The order of finish determines points.
 
Swimming
Multiple events are held for different age groups.  Men and women are in different heats.  Individual scores determine the winners and points are awarded for the best scores in each village.  Complete Rules.
 
Croquet

 

Volleyball
Multiple events are held for different Round robin format with teams consisting of a maximum of 6 and minimum of 4 players, half females on the court at all times.  Teams can only score on their own serve. Each game is played to 15 except the championship game, which is played to 21 points.  Complete Rules.
 

 

 

RULES OF PLAY    

1. Teams:

Once the Celebration Community Games staff has established teams, those teams are final. Requests made in a timely fashion prior to the registration deadline will be considered during team selection process. Every effort will be made by the event directors to ensure balanced teams. Entrants must be of the age of 14 years or older.

2. Residency:

Participants must be able to provide proof of residency in Celebration in order to compete in the Celebration Community Games.

3. Professional Athletes:

Professional athletes shall not be able to compete in the Celebration Community Games in the sport in which they are or were a professional until 10 years after the date they last competed as a professional. They may compete in other sports in which they have not competed professionally.

4. Uniforms:

Team shirts will be provided at registration and are to be worn as uniforms for the entirety of the competition. Captains will be pre-selecting the color of the shirt prior to the event to represent the different villages.

Proper sporting attire is required for the events in which you enter; participants not in proper uniform shirt and attire can be disqualified from the competition by the event chair. Special circumstances should be taken up with the event chair prior to registration and will be considered on a case-bycase basis.

5. Protest Policy:

Any person desiring to make a protest with regard to any aspect of a sport competition at the Celebration Community Games shall make a protest to the Event Director of the sport in question. Initial protests may be oral or written. If an oral protest is denied, a written protest may be subsequently be submitted to the Event Director provided it is done within thirty (30) minutes of the conclusion of the game, match, heat or event under protest. If a written protest is submitted, the Event Director will evaluate the protest and render a decision. All decisions by the Event Director are final.

6. Required Credentials:

Any player unable to provide the required credentials on the playing field shall be declared ineligible to compete until he/she can produce them. A manager may request verification of a player’s eligibility. Should a player play and fail to furnish satisfactory proof prior to the end of the tournament, his/her team will forfeit all games in the event in which the player participated. A valid and official picture ID will serve as acceptable credentials.

7. Code of Conduct:

Participation in the Celebration Community Games as a player, coach or spectator is a privilege to be attained by meeting the standards of good sportsmanship and appropriate conduct in this rule and in the rules governing each individual sport.

The Celebration Community Games staff reserves the right to disqualify any player, coach or spectator from further participation or attendance in the Celebration Community Games for inappropriate conduct including but not limited to the following:

• Physical or verbal assaults or threats
• Unsportsmanlike or disorderly behavior
• Improper use of alcohol and/or drugs
• Destruction of property
• False representation of age, residency or eligibility

Athletes and coaches are responsible for knowing, understanding and following the rules, policies, and code of conduct for their sport. Any player, coach, or team ejected from a sporting contest shall, as a minimum, be ineligible to participate or attend the next contest for that sport. Violent acts may result in charges being brought against the individual(s). A complaint by a games athlete, coach, volunteer or official must be addressed to the Event Director of that particular sport.
